Your planet needs you...

05.06.09 in Environment

… is the theme for this year’s World Environment Day.

Since its launch in 1972, this event, also known as WED, has been marked every year on 5th June and represents one of the main vehicles through which the United Nations promotes global awareness of the environment and creates political attention.  The day’s agenda promotes an understanding that communities are pivotal to changing attitudes towards environmental issues and advocates that everyone should be actively supporting sustainable and equitable development.

This year’s host Mexico, accountable for around 1.5 per cent of global greenhouse gas emissions, has become a leading partner in the UN’s Billion Tree Campaign, which reflects the growing role of the Latin American country in the fight against climate change.  Some 25 per cent of the trees under the campaign have been planted by Mexico - an important step, as the improved management of forests is very high on the WED’s agenda.

Rose Calendars are only too aware of the need for every individual and business to become more environmentally aware. We offer a wide range of promotional calendars printed entirely on recycled paper, our Go Green range, with one particular title standing out today. The stunningly presented Eco Calendar explores environmental issues across the planet using high quality photography and a contemporary layout.

The paper for our other ranges comes from sustainable sources.  This means the mills we purchase the paper from are FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certified and encourage management of forestry resources in an environmentally responsible, socially beneficial and economically viable way.  In addition, all our mailing cartons are produced from recycled board.  As recycling a calendar after its use is as important as using recycled materials in the first place, we also print detailed recycling instructions on the reverse of every December leaf.

All the above initiatives aim to reassure our customers that the calendars they are purchasing are eco friendly.  If you have any questions with regards to our environmental policy or any of our products, please contact us. You may also wish to look at the complete range of 2010 calendars here.
