Wildlife Calendars

We are pleased to announce that the photographer Andy Rouse has received an award in the Shell Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition.

Kindred Spirits 2011 Calendar      Natural World 2011 Calendar      Endangered Species 2011 Calendar

Andy's work is showcased in our Wildlife Calendars, most notably ‘Natural World’,
'Kindred Spirits', ‘Endangered Species’ and ‘Wildlife in Britain’.

The Shell competition is an international showcase for the very best photography featuring natural subjects and is run by the Natural History Museum and BBC Wildlife Magazine.

Being placed in this competition is something that wildlife photographers worldwide aspire to. Many of the prizes are won by professionals like Andy, but amateurs succeed, too.  And that’s because achieving the perfect picture is down to a mixture of skill, vision, originality, knowledge of nature and luck.

The origins of the competition go back as far as 1964, when the magazine was called Animals and there were just three categories and about 600 entries. But even then it was the leading event of its kind for nature photographers. It grew in stature over the years, and in 1984, BBC Wildlife Magazine and the Natural History Museum joined forces to create the competition as it is today.

There are between 15,000 and 20,000 entries now, a major exhibition at the Natural History Museum and exhibitions touring throughout the year, not only in the UK but also worldwide, from the US, the Caribbean and South Africa, through Europe and across to China, Japan and Australia.
